Grief and bad eyesight

Job 17.7:
My eye has grown dim from grief,
and all my members are like a shadow.

Psalm 6.7:
My eyes waste away because of grief;
they grow weak because of all my foes.

Psalm 38.10:
My heart throbs, my strength fails me;
as for the light of my eyes—it also has gone from me.

Psalm 69.3:
I am weary with my crying;
my throat is parched.
My eyes grow dim
with waiting for my God.

Psalm 88.9:
my eye grows dim through sorrow.
Every day I call on you, O Lord;
I spread out my hands to you.

Lamentations of Jeremiah 5.17:

Salvation and bad eyesight

Ezra 9.8:
But now for a brief moment favour has been shown by the Lord our God, who has left us a remnant, and given us a stake in his holy place, in order that he may brighten our eyes and grant us a little sustenance in our slavery.

Old age and bad eyesight

Genesis 27.1:
When Isaac was old and his eyes were dim so that he could not see, he called his elder son Esau and said to him, 'My son’; and he answered, 'Here I am.’

Wickedness and bad eyesight

Job 11.20: But the eyes of the wicked will fail; all way of escape will be lost to them, and their hope is to breathe their last.’ Job 17.5: Those who denounce friends for reward— the eyes of their children will fail.

Psalm 69.23:
Let their eyes be darkened so that they cannot see,

1 Samuel 14.24-29:

Jeremiah 14.6:
The wild asses stand on the bare heights,
they pant for air like jackals;
their eyes fail
because there is no herbage.

Fear and bad eyesight

Deuteronomy 28.65:
Among those nations you shall find no ease, no resting-place for the sole of your foot. There the Lord will give you a trembling heart, failing eyes, and a languishing spirit.

Leviticus 26.16:
I in turn will do this to you: I will bring terror on you; consumption and fever that waste the eyes and cause life to pine away. You shall sow your seed in vain, for your enemies shall eat it.

God's word and bad eyesight

Psalm 19.8:
the precepts of the Lord are right,
rejoicing the heart;
the commandment of the Lord is clear,
enlightening the eyes;

Baruch 3.14:
Learn where there is wisdom,
where there is strength,
where there is understanding,
so that you may at the same time discern
where there is length of days, and life,
where there is light for the eyes, and peace.

Happiness and good eyesight

Proverbs 15.30:
The light of the eyes rejoices the heart,
and good news refreshes the body.

Ecclesiastes 11.7:
Light is sweet, and it is pleasant for the eyes to see the sun.

Bad eyesight is on the increase. Some of this is due to aging populations. There are also indications that lack of sunlight might be responsible. But beyond those things, increasing bad eyesight may just be a sign of the times. As the current age draws to an end there is an increase in fear, wickedness, and the need for God's salvation. After reading the above verses, it's probably not surprising then that bad eyesight is also on the increase.
